At the beginning of the week, Lily’s father wrote to me to book these prom photos at The Beacon. Initially, we were going to go to Jupiter Beach Park. However, there was construction going on, so we changed the location to make sure her prom photos turned out just right.

Very close by is Dubois Park, with its gardens and its Pioneer House. That’s where I met Lily, a very pretty and sweet girl with a sincere smile and wonderful red hair. We had little time, since her family had a dinner reservation. So we started in a hurry, and still, from the first photo to the last, they were beautiful. In fact, she was very easy to work with.

After Dubois Park, we went to Love Street, where we finished her prom photos at The Beacon. On that charming street, with the Jupiter Lighthouse in the background, Lily was delighted with her photos. Then we went down to the beach to take advantage of the low tide, and that’s where we wrapped up the session. All in all, the experience was fantastic. She was ready for her party and said goodbye with two hugs and her wonderful smile. I wish you all the best, Lily. Thank you!

About Dubois Park

Dubois Park sits where the Loxahatchee River meets the Atlantic, right at the Jupiter Inlet, with the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse across the water. Its shallow lagoon and small sandy beach are very popular with families, because the water is calm and kids love to play there.

On top of a small hill, almost unnoticed, stands the DuBois Pioneer Home, a wooden house built in the late 1890s. Its porch and shingled walls make a beautiful, timeless backdrop. As a result, in one session we can photograph a historic house, the lighthouse and the beach.

Tips for prom photos at The Beacon

  • Plan around your dinner reservation. Leave enough time before dinner so the session never feels rushed.
  • Have a backup location. For example, when Jupiter Beach Park was under construction, Dubois Park and Love Street were perfect.
  • Bring flat shoes. We walk between spots, so you can put the heels on just for the photos.
  • Check the tide. Low tide gives us more sand and better reflections for the beach photos.
