Senior Portraits at Dubois Park in Jupiter | Sam

Last week, I took these senior portraits at Dubois Park in Jupiter. I love shooting senior sessions, because I have the opportunity to meet boys and girls in that phase where they are about to define their lives. In fact, it is very interesting to meet them and learn about their ambitions and dreams. At this age it can be difficult to connect with them. However, the moment they feel comfortable with their senior photographer, they open up, and you become fascinated with their world.

On this occasion, I had the privilege of meeting and photographing Sam. He was shy at first, but ten minutes into the session he was already telling me about his life and his future. He told me that he loved architecture, so we talked about it in depth. I told him that my wife is a Jupiter interior designer and that architecture and interior design are closely linked. That’s where we connected. In fact, sessions like this are what I love most about senior pictures in Jupiter.

We started this senior session at Juno Beach Pier at dawn, when the best light and colors appear. Then, to finish these senior portraits at Dubois Park, we used the Pioneer House. I wish you the best, Sam. May you have a wonderful future, full of straight lines, and always remember that a house, no matter how beautiful it is on the outside, always has to become a home on the inside. Why Dubois Park is great for senior portraits

Dubois Park sits where the Loxahatchee River meets the Atlantic, right at the Jupiter Inlet, with the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse across the water. Its shallow lagoon and small sandy beach are very popular with families, because the water is calm and kids love to play there.

On top of a small hill, almost unnoticed, stands the DuBois Pioneer Home, a wooden house built in the late 1890s. Its porch and shingled walls make a beautiful, timeless backdrop. As a result, in one session we can photograph a historic house, the lighthouse and the beach.

Tips for senior portraits at Dubois Park

• Start at the beach, finish at the park. A sunrise at Juno Beach Pier and the Pioneer House at Dubois Park give you two completely different looks.
• Bring two outfits. For example, a simple white T-shirt for the beach and a button-down shirt for the historic house.
• Talk about your passions. Architecture, sports, music… The more I know about you, the more your photos look like you.
• Arrive 10–15 minutes early. The best light actually starts before the sun appears on the horizon.
