Juno Beach Pier Senior Portraits Session | Jaida

That sunrise was spectacular, an unbeatable day for this Juno Beach Pier senior portraits session. It was one of those windless mornings, with the ocean smooth as glass and clouds in the background softening the light. On top of that, there were some small waves and this lovely protagonist of today.

Minutes before the sun rose, Jaida and her mother arrived at our meeting point. As I always do, I tried to get close to her, so she would feel comfortable with me and, most importantly, with the camera. So I asked her about what she wanted to be in the future, and she said she loved psychology. Fantastic! Fantastic because photography has more to do with psychology than with camera technique. In other words, it’s about understanding the other person and being able to anticipate, rather than just pressing the shutter button. It’s about making the person in front of you feel comfortable and able to express themselves. I think she loved that perspective. In fact, sessions like this are what I love most about senior pictures in Jupiter.

Then we walked around the beach, first to the north and then to the south, so that this Juno Beach Pier senior portraits session could capture all the perspectives that this beautiful location offers every day. As a result, Jaida felt more and more comfortable in front of the camera, and it was a pleasure to work with her. I wish you a wonderful future, Jaida.

Why Juno Beach Pier is great for a senior portraits session

Juno Beach Pier is a 990-foot fishing pier on Ocean Drive in Juno Beach, just south of Jupiter. In fact, it’s one of the longest piers on Florida’s Atlantic coast. Because the beach faces east, the sun rises right over the ocean. As a result, it’s one of the best spots in the area for sunrise photos.

However, the beach gets busy later in the day. By mid-morning, walkers, surfers and fishermen fill the sand, especially on weekends and during the winter season. For that reason, a weekday sunrise is the best choice if you’d like a calmer beach.

Tips for your Juno Beach Pier senior portraits session

• Arrive 10–15 minutes early. The best light actually starts before the sun appears on the horizon.
• Choose an outfit that moves. For example, a long, flowing dress looks beautiful with the ocean breeze, and light colors glow at sunrise.
• Bring a second look. With the Silver or Gold package, we can add a more casual outfit or your school or college colors.
• Wear comfortable sandals. We usually walk north and south of the pier, so you’ll want to move easily on the sand.
