The 2023 holiday season was approaching when Laura contacted me for their Family Photoshoot at Riverbend Park in Jupiter. Laura, her husband, daughter, and mother-in-law posed with smiles in front of the camera. The day was very cloudy, practically the entire autumn and winter had been like that. Nevertheless, the family enjoyed themselves immensely with their daughter, who bestowed smiles and joy with every shot.
As we were about to finish the family photoshoot at Riverbend Park, I always like to end by the century-old oak tree, known as the “Tree of Tears.” I understand why it’s called that, I understand it represents a sad moment, although I find it to be a beautiful and iconic place. I always tell the families who rely on me for these sessions that every time they visit that park, they should take another photo in front of that majestic tree.
Location: Riverbend Park, Jupiter, Florida
The Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park bears witness to the final clash of the Second Seminole War. This huge park stands as a paramount multi-level historic site within Palm Beach County. Serving as the gateway to the Loxahatchee River, human habitation along its banks traces back to the Archaic Period, spanning over 5,000 years. The park’s primary objective revolves around the preservation and safeguarding of these cultural treasures, coupled with offering educational opportunities and tranquil recreational experiences to the public. At the heart of the park lies the “Tree of Tears,” a 300-year-old oak tree perched atop a burial mound. Legend suggests it might have served as a sanctuary for wounded Seminoles during or after the Battle of Loxahatchee, embodying layers of history within its branches.
