Lilybeth and Jorge have been together for ten years. They met through family, and from the very beginning there was a third love in their story: flying. Jorge started with model airplanes, and little by little he earned every license he needed to fly the real thing. Today his plane, a classic 1974 Beechcraft Duke, lives right outside their front door at Treasure Coast Airpark in Port St. Lucie, a fly-in community where the hangar is part of the house and the runway is just down the street.
Just days before their wedding, we met at home for their engagement session at sunset. The afternoon looked like it was about to pour, the kind of Florida sky that makes you check the radar every five minutes. Then the clouds opened up and gave us beautiful light, and the rain left the runway wet enough to reflect the sky. We started in their garden, and then Jorge moved the Duke out to the runway, where we kept shooting as the sun went down. If you’re planning your own engagement photos in Jupiter or anywhere on the Treasure Coast, I’d love to hear your story too.
It’s not every day an engagement session ends on a private runway, next to a twin-engine plane that tells the story of a dream come true. Congratulations, Lilybeth and Jorge, and blue skies ahead!

About Treasure Coast Airpark
Treasure Coast Airpark is a private residential fly-in community in Port St. Lucie. Homes sit on large lots with their own hangars, and a 4,000-foot paved runway runs right through the neighborhood, so residents can taxi from their driveway to takeoff.
As a result, it’s a one-of-a-kind backdrop for photos: wide open skies, long runway lines and, of course, the planes themselves. Since it’s private property, sessions there are only possible when, like Lilybeth and Jorge, you live there or have the community’s permission.

Tips for a personal engagement session
- Choose a place that tells your story. Your home, a hobby or the place you met make the photos truly yours.
- Don’t cancel because of clouds. Florida storms often clear just before sunset, and wet ground gives beautiful reflections.
- Book golden hour. The hour before sunset gives soft, warm light that flatters everyone.
- Coordinate, don’t match. Neutral, earthy tones like Lilybeth and Jorge’s look elegant with any background.
