Luis is a tennis coach, and Aida is a golf instructor. Originally from Spain, like me, they now live in New York. When Luis reached out to me, he already had a plan: he wanted to surprise her with a proposal in Jupiter, close to one of the great meccas of golf. So my first suggestion was to stay at PGA National Resort, which would make the trip even more meaningful for her.

Together, we planned the proposal at Juno Beach Pier at sunrise. My guess is that Aida already suspected something was going on. Even so, when the moment came, between the surprise, the emotion and the beautiful sunrise in front of us, she couldn’t hold back her tears.

As a surprise proposal photographer in Jupiter, I’ve seen many beautiful moments, but this one felt special. We had a wonderful time together, laughing and chatting in Spanish as if we had known each other for a lifetime. A sunrise proposal by the ocean, a story that started on the courts and the greens, and a little piece of Spain in Florida: I couldn’t have asked for more.

Why Juno Beach Pier is perfect for a sunrise proposal

Juno Beach Pier is a 990-foot fishing pier on Ocean Drive in Juno Beach, just south of Jupiter. Because the beach faces east, the sun rises right over the ocean, so a sunrise proposal there comes with the best backdrop in the area.

In addition, early morning is the quietest time of the day. Before walkers, surfers and fishermen arrive, you have the beach almost to yourselves, and after the yes, the pier and its pilings give us plenty of beautiful spots to keep taking photos.

Tips for your sunrise proposal

Plan it together with me. We decide the exact spot, the angle and where I will hide, so you only have to think about the question.
Have a good reason to be up early. A sunrise walk on vacation is easy to suggest and hard to suspect.
Visiting from out of town? Stay close by, like Luis and Aida at PGA National Resort, so the early start is easy.
Keep the session going. After the yes, the soft morning light is perfect for relaxed engagement photos.
