When I left my house that morning and looked at the sky, I thought I wouldn’t be able to carry out this maternity photoshoot at Juno Beach Pier. It was very cloudy, the wind was calm, and it had recently rained. As I drove to the pier, I realized that if it looked bad, it was getting worse. In fact, when I parked, I didn’t have much hope. However, just before starting, everything changed.
There, waiting for me, were Sofiya and her husband. She was dressed in white, with a belly of several months. Two smiles greeted me as soon as they saw me, and with that, this maternity photoshoot at Juno Beach Pier began. When we went down to the beach, the clouds on the horizon acted as a filter, softening the rising sun that was appearing over the ocean. The moment was overwhelming, magical. Sofiya and her husband let me do everything, so I made the poor woman walk a lot (I’m sorry). Between smiles and knowing glances, they told me how they met and got married shortly after. I love those stories where, from the first moment, you know the other person is the right one. Thank you very much, Sofiya, I wish you all the happiness in the world.
Why Juno Beach Pier is ideal for a maternity photoshoot
Juno Beach Pier is a 990-foot fishing pier on Ocean Drive in Juno Beach, just south of Jupiter. In fact, it’s one of the longest piers on Florida’s Atlantic coast. Because the beach faces east, the sun rises right over the ocean. As a result, it’s one of the best spots in the area for sunrise photos.
However, the beach gets busy later in the day. By mid-morning, walkers, surfers and fishermen fill the sand, especially on weekends and during the winter season. For that reason, a weekday sunrise is the best choice if you’d like a calmer beach.

Tips for your maternity photoshoot at Juno Beach Pier
- Book around the seventh month. The belly is beautifully round, and you’re still comfortable walking on the sand.
- Wear a flowing dress. For example, a long white or pastel dress moves with the breeze and shows the shape of your belly.
- Don’t cancel because of clouds. As this morning shows, clouds often soften the sunrise and make the light even prettier.
- Bring your partner, and your kids or pets if you like. They make the photos even more meaningful.
